ABOUT Your Piper

As a unique addition to any event, I hope that through piping in a fun and energetic way we can ignite some Scottish passion into the air.

I take great pride in my performance and strive to deliver the best service I possibly can to all my clients.
Therefore I always like to have a quick chat, over a cup of coffee or over the phone, to discuss how best we can include bagpipes to suit your own unique and special occasion.
All sorts of styles and musical tastes can be catered for and we can tailor everything towards your event to create the perfect atmosphere for your day.

I started piping at around the age of 9 and ever since I have been steadily building my repertoire and gaining valuable experience competing and performing all over the country.

When you book me as the Rob Roy Piper you can be sure that I will personally deal with all aspects of your event from consultation to attendance.

MY SERVICES

WEDDINGS

A piper at your wedding can create a breathtaking atmosphere from the moment your guests arrive.

Before your big day, we can arrange a consultation together to make sure we know exactly what you, as the happy couple, would like. I will do my very best to help make you and your partner's day as special as you have always imagined.

Your wedding day is a day where you can be the boss, so you can decide where you would like to hear the bagpipes next. It is completely flexible to you and we can hopefully organise a plan during our consultation.

Some common requests for a wedding are:

- Piping at the entrance to give your guests a

  memorable welcome

- Piping the couple down or back up the aisle at the

end of the ceremony to their chosen tune

- Piping guests down the road to your evening

  venue

- Piping outside your evening venue

- Piping the couple and top table to their seats at

  dinner

SPECIAL DATES

Whether it's a Bonfire Night, a St Andrews event, the Summer Soltice or Burns Night, the special dates are usually any piper's busiest ones.

I will try to do my best to accommodate everybody, but I work on a first come, first serve basis so make sure to get in contact as early as possible to book.

EVENTS

One of the great privileges of being a musician is that you get asked some very unusual requests:

- From piping on the back of a Harley Davidson, to

piping on a set of skis.

- Piping on Spanish TV alongside Spanish guitarists

to playing a haunting lament in an ancient scottish

  castle.

- Piping in the company of Alpacas, performances

in -6°C and playing to the First Minister.

Therefore, no request could be too unusual.

A piper is a unique addition to any event and whatever your event may be, we can work together to decide how to best incorporate a piper to make it a memorable part of your day.

Regardless of the event, your piper will arrive on the day, smartly dressed in their kilt and with their bagpipes at the ready.

Other Instruments

If you are looking for some unique and more mellow music during your event I can also play both the Scottish Small Pipes and Tin Whistles.

If you would like to hear the music either of these beautiful instruments can create live at your event, feel free to contact me.

The Small Pipes look like a smaller version of the Highland bagpipe, yet have their own smooth sound which is much quieter and perfectly suited to indoor entertainment. My clients have loved having them as live background music during the social part of their event or for some late evening entertainment.

They sound fantastic both on their own and when accompanied by a guitar or another instrument so if you are interested in bringing the small pipes to your event, please don't hesitate to ask.

Small Pipes

The Tin Whistle is a small 6 holed instrument which is similar to the flute and can be the happiest instrument in the room or the most haunting. Its large range of notes, from the highest and happiest to the lowest and deepest, can bring a range of different emotions to an event and they can be specifically tailored to suit your event.

Tin Whistle

Having a solo piper at your event can bring atmosphere and passion to your event, but a combined group of multiple pipers can amplify this and bring it to a whole new level. Whether you would like us spread out along a path to give your guests a marker to guide them on their walk, or in one group to give a striking start to your day, there is no doubt that the more pipers you have, the more memorable it will be.

Additional Pipers

To add a drummer into the mix can give the music an extra sense of rhythm and importance.

A snare drum is the main drum that you can hear in any pipe band. Their "rat-t-tat-tat" sound can make your mini group of players sound wonderfully sharp and together, bringing an extra sense of professionalism to your event. Each snare drummer has their own unique way of playing, and having piped with my snare-drumming contacts for many years, we have learnt each other's own style and learnt to intertwine them to create the perfect harmony.

A tenor drum brings the show to your event. The spectacular twirling of their drumsticks can mesmerize your guests from the get-go.

A bass drum will bring it all together. The heavy beat of this drum can be felt immediately by your guests and will have them all tapping their feet in no time

If you are interested in adding any of these drummers to accompany your piper, then don't hesitate to let me know.
